"It's kind of big-brotherish, but sometimes it's the price we pay for safety."

No, lady, it's -not- safer. If someone's speeding and the light changes too quickly, the speeder is going to T-bone the poor bastard on the perpendicular road if they can't stop in time.

[livejournal.com profile] trystbat, keep an eye on the local news; dollars to donuts, there's going to be an uptick in accidents at this intersection. . . either that, or people will know how -much- they need to speed to beat the quicker signal, which will result in -more- fast driving.

In case anyone needs amusement for Bunny Day:

Q: Why do girls love Jesus?
A: Because he was hung like *cruciform pose* this!

=======================

Jesus comes back from one of His forty day/forty night desert sojourns, and looks like hell. . . dirty, clothes torn, only one sandal. He's met by His friend Abraham, who is a clothesmaker, and who proceeds to fuss over His demolished garments.

"Jeshua, go take a bath, I'll make you a new robe." So he does, and He does, and when Jesus gets back, Abe gives him a new robe, and it's really, really nice. Deep pockets, soft fabric, the works. Jesus thanks and blesses Abe, and goes back to His disciples.

"Hey, great robe! Where'd you get it?"
"Abraham, two blocks over, made it for me."
"Do you think he'd make ones for us? Not quite as nice, of course, but. . ."
"I don't see why not. Why don't you go ask him?"

So they do, and Abe makes them a bunch of robes, and they pay him. Later, he approaches Jesus and thanks Him for sending the disciples over.

"You know, Jesua, we could do pretty well like this. You've got good PR skills, I make the clothes, and you get a commission. Whaddaya say?"
"Sure, Abe. It's a deal. What should we call ourselves? J&A? Abe & Josh?"
"I've got it!" Abraham exclaims. "Lord and Tailor!"
