Continuing the odd series of docu-dreamery I began last week, this afternoon's nap was an ESPN / SportsCenter expose` on EA Games, and their alienation of some fans. Brief mention was given to
easpouse's grievances with their actual HR practices drawing fire, but most of the focus was on how their popular EA Sports' franchises were becoming less fun, and running into stumbling blocks by being too realistic; mention was made of lawsuits filed by the company against the ownership of the NHL for initiating this season's lockout and a potential suit against Barry Bonds and other baseball stars named or implicated in the BALCO steroids scandal.
Interviews were conducted with gamers - an early teenager (probably fourteen, looked a bit like an amalgam of both youngsters in the
critus/
netgoth household), a college-aged guy, and a mid/late 20's player, on their thoughts about the company's titles and how their real-world actions would affect their purchase decisions. Discussion centered not on the gameplay engine itself, but on the ability to hyper-micromanage off-the-field aspects, download up-to-date player ratings and rosters to keep track of injuries or suspensions of real-life players between games or seasons (an offshoot of what I believe they may already have on a year-to-year basis for the most current titles), and, inexplicably, some sort of tupperware storage bin/closet organizer accoutrement, that was either an antenna to get the updates or a storage bin for trading cards, or both.

Please, someone tell me if these shows are actually being made, and I happen to be picking up crosstalk out of the aether when I sleep too soon after eating a club sandwich or something. . . .
