My next trick will be the 600 mile tank of gas. Last one was 576.

Yeah, I do weird shit in the name of fuel economy, but I'm spending five times as much per month on unleaded as I was when I bought Zim ($100/mo now, $20/mo then) thanks to tripling fuel prices and a commute that's fifteen times longer.

My second job (writing at Massively) has itself spawned a second job. I'm the hardware geek at sister site Big Download, and my first presumptively high-eyeball item is up for Age of Conan's hardware requirements.

The reality of the side gig landed in my mailbox yesterday, when my first paycheck showed up. Justify my existence and my lavish pittance! ;-)

Or: "If I'm talking to a member, something is really, really fucking wrong"

I just had a member on my line. They were looking for death benefits. I managed not to make a joke about causing it.

What I *did* say: "I'm sorry, we're really, really good here at the help desk, but I'm not sure there's anything I can do for your father."

So, I kicked ass, hooked them up with someone who can actually help them, and will now try and figure out who the hell transferred them to me.

[livejournal.com profile] ginnyland: and good for you for A) not making the joke B) getting them the person who could! lol and BOOO to the person who transferred them to you.
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: Uh, that -is- what I said. The horrible joke would have been much, much worse.
[livejournal.com profile] ginnyland: OMG
[livejournal.com profile] etcet: "Is he still under warranty?"
