I'm thoroughly enjoying the fact that non-summer weather has finally frigging arrived, and had the windows open all weekend (I'd sleep with them open, but the combination of ambient noise and lack of alarm enablement render that slightly impractical). You mean I don't have to sweat my balls off mowing the lawn? Fan-fucking-tastic.
Friday, I tried to test myself for Kettlebell Certification after work; managed plenty of reps (60 @ 54# in about 4:05, 30 sec rest, then 30 more by about 6:15). Not sure if my form is quite up to snuff, per
xany's observation[1] at his place on Saturday - it's supposed to look like this. So, something to keep working towards, in addition to continuing to lurch in the direction of some flavor of Personal Training certification to legitimatize pursuing that as a part-time job, instead of merely being an overly-helpful source of advice and guidance to my coworkers for free. Heh.
Aside to Xany: You were absolutely right about those Apex cookies; despite not being a fan of caramel, that one was still delicious. The s'mores and energy bar will be my office snacks today.
Also, to complete the Xany-centric trifecta, he linked up http://garfieldminusgarfield.net/ this morning, which is just hysterical to me. I was a massive Garfield addict when I was a kid (remember ordering books from Schoolastic in elementary school? I had something like the first fifteen of 'em).
Else-life, there's been a lot of acute suck going around my circle of both close and distant friends, tempered by some very good things happening to other folks. Very little of the foregoing is mine to divulge, but, suffice it to say, I wish there was something more I could do for them that needs, and am happy for them that warrants.
Personally, I'm dealing with what, in the grand scheme of things, is relatively modest suck - C14 ended up costing about as much as a small new car (about a third of which I'm directly absorbing), and I'm currently wrangling with paperwork to try and cope with the balance. Those of you familiar with my antipathy for lawyers (in general, but not in specific) and bureaucracy will hardly be surprised to note my procrastination on this point. Heh.
