Now it can be told.

Since the official announcement has been posted, and the site uploaded to the appropriate location, the shark is out of the bag on this one.

Convergence 14: Ybor City
Convergence Jumps the Shark
(Literally)

Location: Ybor City, Florida
Date: 08/08/08
Bid Committee: Chachi, Pinky Tuscadero, TheOneFonz™

Event: TheOneFonz™ will dare the shark-infested kiddie pool of doom(*)
on a BMX bike with only a leather jacket (and his innate cool) to
protect him!!! The OneFonz™ will be available for photos and
autograph signing post-jump. Provided he lives.

FAQ:

Q: Are you serious?
A: What do you think?

Q: What about bands, DJs, a fashion show?
A: We have an event. See above for details. Besides, we usually end
up skipping all that stuff in favor of drinking with friends anyway.

Q: What is your venue?
A: Depends on our attendance. For now, we’re aiming for Elizabeth
Street, Tampa. It’s a nice quiet street. If we get more people, we
can always utilize one of the many vacant parking lots nearby.

Q: Where is “Ybor City”?
A: A top secret bunker somewhere in the State of Florida. A bunker
with beer.

Q: What hotels are you looking at?
A: Ybor only has 3, 1 of which is a trendy (read: expensive) boutique
hotel. You get the Hilton or the Hampton Inn.

Q: Summer? In Florida? Are you insane?
A: Hey, we live here. Besides, y'all are gonna bitch about the heat
no matter when we propose. Might as well have a reason for all the
bitching.

Q: Your web page sucks.
A: That’s a statement, not a question. Anyway, we’re drunks, not web
designers.

Q: Who the hell are you people?
A: You either know us or you don’t. We’re not gonna waste hours
whipping out our Convergence and/or alt.gothic e-peens for ya. Those
who know us understand that this is exactly like something we’d do.

Q: What will tickets cost?
A: We have to recoup our significant capital purchases (kiddie pool,
remote controlled shark) and advertising in the Village Voice, so
we’re anticipating a cover charge of _at least_ $5.00.

*No actual sharks will be harmed during this event. In order to
ensure the safety of TheOneFonz™ and to keep costs low, the C14
committee will be using fake sharks, but they will still be surly.
