With the embroglio surrounding the President's push for a Constitutional Amendment regarding gay marriage, much has been made of where this may slot less strident members of the GOP, and (apparently-) former Vice Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani [link magic: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/02/26/giuliani/index.html], who don't hold similar opinions.

Bush undercuts Giuliani's ongoing attempt to bridge the divide between his moderate New York City political record -- pro-choice, pro-gun control -- and more conservative mainstream Republicans.

I'm going to walk right out on what feels like a pretty stout limb here and make an assertion that's orthogonal to what you'll hear from our Curmudgeon and the other regular contributors here: I think it's fucking -beautiful- if we were to arrive at a major election where both candidates are in favor of equal rights for all individuals, so that discrimination and close-mindedness rooted in nothing firmer than the sludge of dogmatic epithets has no traction or purview in matters of politics or policy.

When it becomes problematic to one political party's agenda for a candidate to espouse such common-sense planks, it might be time for that party to take a look around and notice how far out of round their worldview has become. Institutionalizing in the law of the land what is and is not a valid partnership between consenting adults, because it's not in keeping with a religious doctrine? So what if it seems "unnatural" to you - if it "harms" anyone at all, its the consenting adults who engage in the activity - shove off.

It takes one man and one woman to -make- a child, not raise one. I would much rather a young person be brought up in a household with homosexual or bisexual adults who love and respect one another and who are attentive and responsible about their parenting duties, not some dysfunctional cesspool where Ma and Pa and nine shoeless littermates shout, fight, and sulk.

They recently raised the bar for fucked-up family behavior at K's workplace, where they do genetics testing for paternity, among other things. The mother was 13. The paternity tests being done were her grandfather, uncle, and father.

I'll take hot girl-on-girl action every single time over hetero incest.

So, GOP, please wander around in the uber-conservative wilderness. It will make it so much easier to conveniently lose you on election day.

All that you are missing is that Paisli and I have a very weird connection. We often tend to think the same thing, say the same things or go through the same thing at the same time. As well as channeling each others aches, pains and injuries.

i guess you could say that we are like the Borg.

Be glad you were missing it... :)
