so, on the QT, mostly because even -i- wasn't that interested in the possibility, was the fact that i had an interview to take over managing the two LANs for my apartment complex offices. not the worst way to spend half an hour, but i was almost having fun being candid on the ob. tech. queries that the departing admin guy asked [and it was painfully obvious i was his first ever interview, he'd printed out a list of things to ask and checked them off].

"what's your opinion of OSI?"
"I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the acronym in this context."

[having since googled it to allay my curiosity, i'm going to assume he meant the Open Source Initiaive, and not the Open Society Institute or Ordnance Survey: Ireland. . . had he just asked what i thought of alternatives to windows, i could have given him a cogent answer. oh well.]

"what is the impact of the order of protocol bindings on network performance?"
"look, 99% of what i work with is tcp/ip - everything else was either broken or an afterthought. i'll go out on a limb and say that screwing this up isn't ideal."

I don't expect to get the job [2 or 3 hours a week, plus emergencies], and might even politely decline if it looks like the impending migration is more impending than on hold, assuming i get offered it. *shrug*

eh. other things have me feeling kind of stupid now. i want a nap.
