i'd planned to swing by to steal
theonebob's weed-whacker, but the rain may put the kibosh on that.
critus' washer is in (thanks to
spuriousfurious for the generous use of his pickup!), but the cold water tap leaks when it's turned on (the spigot needs replacing, methinks - it's badly calcified]. need to snag a coupon from
angelsil if we end up getting the dryer from lowe's anyway. . . and i still need to get a hacksaw and crowbar.
yesterday's adventures included two wildlife sightings (random storks at a neighborhood home by Casa de Critus, and a bonded pair of Sandhill Cranes. . . . in the parking lot of Lowes, where they were alternately threatening the red logo on the Salvation Army donation trailer and enjoying crackers that the dude manning it shared with them), the procurement of a lovely, black, marble-topped rolling butcher block (hooray for quality self-assembled crap!). . . also, kickass switchplates! (i bought every single outlet cover Lowes had in this style, and it's not enough to even finish my living room (!!!)... but how cool are they? they even look good against the Very Yellow Kitchen paint, but much better against the main grey.
next up, putting together k's computer desk and rebuilding her computer while she gets groceries. weeeeee....
[and because i can't resist saying some things, i wonder if they'll go after the GOP convention. gee, ya think?
I fucking love anonymous reports. "The warning, announced Saturday night, didn't say how the attacks might be carried out or when they would occur." Let me tell you something, folks - not knowing what's going to happen, when, why, how, or to whom, is part of being alive. You think wildebeest know when lions are on the hunt? You think your tulips know when it's going to rain?
Go ahead and try to paralyze us with fear, you fucks (said fucks being the DHS, not A-Q). This sheep has a howitzer.

I don't think the average person is being paralyzed with fear by their attempts because we're sick to death of the vague warnings, the constant need to put out the warnings, and of course, unreliable news sources.

And I hope K has forgiven M for all the Walken moments last night. Hehehe. We definitely need to hang out more often. :)

i agree that the DHS/white house insisting on crying "wolf" is entirely too much like the cautionary tale (was that grimm? i can never remember).

and walken, like cowbell, one can never have too much of. *grin*

can't these people go blow something up in Iowa or something? (no offense to any Iowans, but NYC has definitely had it's fair share of terroristic idiocy already...)
