So, as mentioned by [livejournal.com profile] angel_renewed, we're in the office. It was pretty much just an excuse to claim 8hrs worth of work, get some face time, and, more importantly, pick up a cup of good coffee and a bagel on the way in.

With ominous noises about this sucker being a legitimate Category 3 storm when it runs into my front porch, I'm going to be slapping some wood on the windows on the storm-facing side of the house. took the advice of a lifetime Tampax and sprayed some of that expanding-foam insulation stuff around the kitchen door (since there's a 1/4-1/2" gap around it).

beyond that? bought a case of beer, a case of bottled water (of which i gave one to the neighbor across the street who spent all day yesterday working on the engine of his minivan and looked like he needed refreshment), a gallon of chocolate soymilk, a gallon of gatorade, a gallon of generic lemonade, and a couple loads of chips, salsa, and queso. unlike Sil & Bob, I have an electric range, so I'm going to be making due with non-cookable chow if the juice goes out (the cell phone is charged, so I won't be totally out of touch despite not having a non-cordless phone on our land line).

K got into buffalo safe and sound around 1130 last night; she was picking up her luggage as i was going to bed.

so, now it's off to the Ghettome Depot to snag some 1x6's to nail up. it's liberating, though, knowing that i have every intention of repainting the exterior of the house, so i have no compunction about driving nails into the current stuff.

i'll take pix of the storm prep and see about putting them in the ninehells.com/gallery before i lose power (which i fully expect, but am fervently hoping against).

i also emailed my former boss, letting him know that because this storm bears his name, it must be a sign that the FNG must not be filling my shoes adequately. ;-)
