First, I didn't watch the President's GOP speech. . . but the soundbytes I heard on NPR this morning were enough to make me livid. We need to vote that joker out, without question. . . and maybe mail parts of him to the middle east for Valentine's Day. For reference, see
anditron's blow-by-blow summary.
Second, I didn't participate in the "Gimme the straight dope" meme yesterday, but there's a variation on it going around, where you get to use song lyrics or movie quotes to tell people what you think of them that I find much less terrifying, so if anyone wants to be sound-bitten, just holler.
Third, Frances seems to have met her match in the form of a hell of a high-pressure ridge, but we're still making sure we've got batteries, water, beer. . . you know, staples. ;-)
I am harboring a bit of personal amusement that the next one in the pipe is TS Ivan.
Just finished re-reading American Gods, and plan on either committing/expanding Thursday night's bizarro "Survivor"/"Starship Troopers"/"The Jackal" dream wherein I tried to assassinate Johnny Depp after taking a team of Amish & castaways through a dimensional gate (and ended up shooting JD with a super soaker and having him make me breakfast) . . . or revisiting a story idea that occurred to me in early July and was shared out briefly. But, yeah, between chewing through lots and lots of quotes for work and beginning to put together a newsletter, I suspect that there may be a torrent of words that could begin flowing again. If anyone has random plot elements they'd like to see done up (with a nod here to
cavalorn and his fine Book of Unremitting Horror), fire away.

Lt. Jordan O'Neil : Do you ask the men the same question?
Lt. Blondell : As a matter of fact: yes, I do ask them.
Lt. Jordan O'Neil : And what do they say?
Lt. Blondell : The same thing: "'Cause I get to blow shit up."
Lt. Jordan O'Neil : Well, there you go.

American Gods! :)
Love that book.
Coraline was just as great. Button eye mommies.
Of course that and Good Omens is like... one of my all time favorites.
Ah.. Neil Gaiman.
