Nepotism at its finest - despite suffering from a bit of foot-in-mouth disease [mmmmm, shoes] during the interview yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] angel_renewed held sufficient clout to say, "You want the gig? You got it."

So, yeah... I'm becoming a Tampax (Tampon? Tampan? Tampisto? Tampud? Whatever the collective noun we choose ends up being).

I start on 6 July. I'm giving notice on Monday, and will presumably be taking advantage of Sil & Onebob's generosity of crash space while working though the home/apartment procurement process.

Spent yesterday afternoon, post-interview, running amok with a realtor through our target neighborhood - seven houses in two hours, only one of which was OHFUCKNONASTYHOOD - and two of which looked really nice, at least mid-afternoon (the sage advice of Sil is to swing by again at 11pm on a Saturday night to confirm area behavior, hence tempering my optimism at how nice the houses themselves are).

I then had to forsake [livejournal.com profile] axissilverhand mid-sentence to pee in a cup. ;-) Rehydration was pursued during a very pleasant means - park, peruse Ybor City watering holes (mmmm. . . Lambic on tap one place, and a waiter who endorses corporal discipline of unruly customers after sharing a shot with another - featuring good, in-house beer, and coasters that say BEER IS YOUR FRIEND) around dinner, featuring fun and far-ranging conversation about fish, C11, housing plans, and, yes, even a subthread about "Friends," of all things. I was exposed to the well-chilled niftiness that was a near-vacant Czar, as well as meeting Steph, a very nice friend of Axis, at The Castle - hooray for making a new friend in a new city, even if the Happy Places of near-complete strangers are not safe (but, really, nobody needed to see The Asscheeks of Doom, so he needed the ridicule).

It's been a productive visit, even without the successful job hunt - as we discussed at IHOP, simply making positive movement to improve things for myself and [livejournal.com profile] aishlynn has been theraputic - like an old faucet caked with hard water deposits meeting a bucket of heated CLR, I can feel large chunks of unpleasant stress and inertia breaking off and dissolving, and it feels damn good.
