IT finally swapped out that hellish Compaq NutRoaster 3000 for an IBM "ThinkCentre" (whatever - it's a low profile mini-ITX). This is happy-making for one obvious and a handful of less-obvious reasons.

The big, obvious thing is that I no longer have to suffer on a $&^$@#%$#(*^&% laptop keyboard. This standard 104 isn't going to impress anyone, and it's a far cry from my MS Natural Pro, but it's definitely a step up. Now, to re-establish a comfy computing position.

Lesser goodnesses include software that actually works, double the RAM (512mb, up from 256), and an honest-to-goth scroll wheel on my mouse, instead of Dell's toggle widget of glowy blue hate.

On the homefront, K talked with Rooms 2 Go, and we're going to just say fuck it and pick new end and coffee tables... the granite ones, while very spiff, are either going to be floor models or horrendously delayed, and the 4'x4'coffee table is just too damn big (or at least, the wrong shape) for our living room, and makes it difficult to navigate well.

Hopefully, when I get home to pick up K, my new dryer will be installed. how thrilling, no?
