Something like 16 hours' sleep since Wednesday night (so, yeah, five or six hours a night, so I guess that isn't to bad).
Phenomenal early-bird turnout Thursday, despite our initial destination not being open (my theory is that The Hut, which is right across the street from the St. Pete Times Forum, is only open during hockey season) -- I'm talking on the order of "I haven't seen a pre-party like that since C6." The Tampa Tribune's coverage, for which I was interviewed, can be seen here, and their photographer hung out with us Thursday night at Wet Willie's Slushy Bar Of Holy Crap That's A Lot Of Flocking Goths, and a couple of his pics are here. Nice head, Ian.
The usual and more or less expected litany of last-second stuff that needed addressing was pretty much pwned right in the face. Nothing so trivial as iffy logistics or communication conundrums is going to stand between me and showing a few hundred folks a good time.
There was a local goth photog/reporter (Leigh Armstrong - very nice guy) from the St. Pete Times & its affiliated blogs/sites/papers last night, who had angled and wrangled with his editor to cover C14 - his write-up is here
Goths On Ice, as previously noted elsewhere, also got some coverage in the St. Pete Times.
The whole thing kicks ass. We kick ass. I kick ass. :-)
I have, however, been forced to resign myself to one there being one more thing which I do not kick the most ass - DJ Wookiee and a cohort whose name eludes me at the moment completely stole the show at American Gothic Idol Skaraoke last night with their beat-box, a capella rendition of "Baby Got Back." It was fucking beautiful.
