Bookended by long drives, there was the expected hanging out with friends, a nontrivial amount of crowd navigation and line wrangling (see previous post), and substantial amounts of geekery and snuggling.

Random events from the weekend not previously noted:
- carried [livejournal.com profile] cassandrasimplx a couple of blocks on my back after her bum knee bummed out (despite the preparedness and niftiness of [livejournal.com profile] poisongirl, who provided emergency support in the form of a spare knee brace and cane); as a corollary, Fitocracy doesn't award adequate points for moderately challenging shit like that (I categorized it as "hiking, moderate hill, 1xx lb backpack") and got something like eighteen points for it.
- had drinks and appetizers with a guy who was wrong on the internet, and CS spent the best part of an hour in a spirited back-and-forth with him; no minds were substantially changed, but respect for positions seemed to be earned, and then they geeked out over anime and Japanese movies in general.
- caught the new episode of Doctor Who via amazon prime on CS' laptop the morning after it aired, so she would not need to fret about spoilers at any of the panels, or on the bookface, or elsewhere. not a bad way to spend a portion of a morning.
- had a truly stellar bison burger with cajun seasoning at a place called "vertex." atlanta peeps, do not allow that joint to shut down. holy crap. they serve fondue with tater tots as dippers. (sadly, a preponderance of japalenos rendered CS unable to eat some of her stuff due to allergies, but there was the consolation prize of tasty adult beverages)
- found a new and convenient turkish restaurant, where we met up with two sets of friends (and I scored good boyfriend points for retrieving a lost cell phone on my way back to our hotel after I had to duck out of dinner early for staff obligations)
- discovered that a friend was an even bigger british media geek than CS is, and they are now bonded in some arcane manner that only the deeply fannish can be.
- relatedly, I'm happy that everyone I introduced CS to resulted in the following two reactions. 1) she likes them, 2) they all threatened to kick my ass if we break up. conclusion: i have excellent taste in humans i call friends; who knew?
- hit the kilt blowing, of course. took the opportunity to catch up with friends i see nowhere else. was thanked the next day by a random audience member for participating. i'm okay with that.
- did far less wandering in and around the more crowded hotel spaces than in years past, so i didn't see as much of the costume crowd as usual, though i did catch up with [livejournal.com profile] happygoth for a few minutes and we swapped stories of celebrity squee. (all the con guests i interacted with want to come back next year, and while that's almost certainly not my doing, i'd like to think i contributed to the good time they assert they had)
