That's how long Asshole-Elect Shrub to resume lying to us in his acceptance speech.

"Our military has brought honor to America."

Gru, no offense meant to you and your mates, but these besuited assholes seem to have conveniently forgotten all about Abu Ghraib and Gitmo. I don't think those soldiers brought America any pride at all.

Somebody, please [censored for reasons of national security] the auditorium to pre-emptively clean the White House four years early.

While Gru may forgive you, I'm a bit offended. I hardly think judging the entire U.S. military based on a handful of kids, some obviously bad field command folks, some intelligence community wonks, and some "defense contractors" is appropriate.

I might as well blame you for the FEMA fraud in Florida following the hurricanes this year since you were in the state so you *must* have known and been able to stop it.

Really, Rafe. Even if Bush sure hasn't brought a lot of honour to the military nor has he treated them well, I'm shocked that you would say the entire U.S. military is dishonourable.

And I disagree.

I didn't say that they were all dishonorable. I said that some very high-profile actions on the part of a few individuals, apparently with the tacit approval of the administration, were -not- of the sort to bring honor to the country.

Just like the whacko fundamentalist nutjobs give christians a bad name, any subset of extremist assholes have a halo of shit effect on the group as a whole.

I still have this to say about the whole Abu Ghraib thing: Rank-fucking-ameatuers.

What I've seen come out about there was not torture. Harassment at best. Even I could do a better job than they did, and I'm not a real advocate of physical torture as an investigative technique.

Everyone's going "Oh, how could our professional soldiers have done such a lousey thing!?!?"
