RAM: Two sticks, same channel, works just fine. As soon as the other channel is brought into play, fall down go boom. Meh. 768 is better than 512, but not as good as 1024. It'll ride for the time being.

BIOS: As [livejournal.com profile] critus said, the windows-based BIOS update tool is sweet (even if it's also dumb as a stump, and had to be hand-held via the expedient of downloading the file myself, and then pointing it at the local directory), except for One Little Thing. It cannot (or, more accurately, WILL NOT) install an older BIOS file than the one on the board. Which normally wouldn't be a problem, if the DOS-based utility worked (awdflash is apparently incapable of updating an AMI bios), and. . .

1014 Beta Bios: DOESN'T SUPPORT ANYTHING BUT DEFAULT FSB. Sure, you can -set- it however you want (200? 250? 300? Go for it!), but when you boot up, it's 200. Not BIOS-Recover failsafe, but just not implemented. And, of course, I'm stuck with it, and can't put the 1013 in using the tool that actually works, because it doesn't let you go backwards.

I need to tweak my desktop settings. Light grey on default blue is way too corporate. I want my dark grey on black again.
