no shit. i caught that this morning, in between doses of the failed 2nd london bombing and the news of china severing the yuan from the dollar. i don't feel like it's *just* that the emperor has no clothes anymore. i feel like the majority of americans, left and right alike, have no friggin eyeballs or brains anymore.

iraq makin' nice with tehran. check.
china cutting yuan free from us dollar. check.
china rapidly beefing up military, largely on tech stolen from US. check.
china engaging in amphibious assault exercises. check.
taiwan lookin' ripe for the pickin'. check.
china thoroughly entangled in venuzuela. check.
a right-oriented party one step away from armbands. check.
a left-oriented party that can't find itself and thinks moderate=left. check.
a soon to burst housing bubble with no backup bubble to fall back on. check.
ad nauseam, usw.

sooooo...what? if china invades taiwan, we're gonna cut their oil supply from iraq when a) tehran won't let it happen, and b) venezuela makes it largely moot? riiiight. especially with our soaring enlistment numbers and our burgeoning economy.

the look on our collective faces when this whole house of cards comes crumblin' down. priceless.

gah, i'm so tired and pissed and generally cranky i can't even rant well.

Oh, sure...it's the livid that goes along with the thirtieth bee sting after having the swarm descend upon you.

That thirtieth one may not surprise you, but it still stings.

well, one quick way of taking care of it would have been the scorched earth policy -- nuke 'em till they glow, then shoot 'em in the dark.

China cutting Yuan free -- most countries in the world asked for this because china's peg was about 40% of where economists would be. China promised to grant this, but only at their own pace so they didn't screw up their own banking system.

China's military -- they didn't really steal that much from us, most of it was available on the internet. And they bought what the french were selling which wasn't exactly ancient technology.

Taiwan -- Half the US military wants this to happen so they can "prove" they're still militarily superior to China. They might be in for a rude surprise.

War -- Let's not forget that the rise in oil prices slows down China's economy *way* more than the US economy. One of the reason why they're looking at Venezuela and the Middle East is that they need to ensure there's enough oil for everyone. We may use up more oil for running our machinery, but they use *WAY* more oil for heating half a billion homes and busineses. China also needs our economy to remain strong in order for theirs to keep growing (who else buys their exports?).

but back to the original rant -- anyone decide to open an international newspaper? Yeah....the Wall Street Journal.

I said it when I was there, but no one wanted to hear me: The Iranians had been sitting there just WAITING for something like this to happen and had a 100 times more "civilian affairs" related things ready to go than we did.

They out-PsyOp'd us from day 1.
Funny how PsyOp and CivAff officiers kept getting mad at me when I told them that...
