Best sound bites, with Yours Truly providing commentary:
- characterizing the opponents as part of an Islamic radical movement "with a clear and coherent ideology" and territorial ambitions
A quick substitution and you get characterizing the actions as part of top-level GOP movement "with a clear and coherent ideology" and territorial ambitions. That seems pretty fucking obvious to this observer. Karl Rove, the al-Zarqawi of the Beltway.
Moving on. . .
- "Having removed a dictator and aided free peoples, we will not stand by as a new set of killers dedicated to the destruction of our own country seizes control of Iraq by violence." That's what a National Recall Election is necessary for around here, Shrubbo. But you and your cronies would never let yourselves get ousted peacefully until you've bled the nation white.
- "Bin Laden says his own role is to tell Muslims: 'What is good for them and what is not.' And what this man who grew up in wealth and privilege considers good for poor Muslims is that they become killers and suicide bombers. He assures them that this is the road to paradise, though he never offers to go along for the ride," Bush said.
This last bit doesn't need me to point out the irony, it's right there, hiding in plain fucking sight. . . the words straight from the mouth of a man who was too much of a fucking coward to fulfill his obligation to his country, and called on his monied connections to bail him out time and time again.

Indeed so. I also don't see either Barbara or Jenna signing up and heading for Iraq.
Dying for ones country is, evidently, the responsibility of the impoverished, never the elite.

Hell, at least the rich have something worth living for.
For that matter, I'd be perfectly happy giving the guys on death row and couple of grenades and some guns and turning them lose on Iraq. They've already proven to be good murderers....let them do what they do best and keep our boys safe at home.
Dying for one's country is not anyone responsibility. Remember that Patton(?) said that object is not to die for your country, but to make the other guy die for his.
Sorry, in a pissy mood right now.

fighting an enemy whose individual combatants don't have any interest in surviving the conflict is a completely different matter than fighting one whose soldiers want to make it home in one piece.
