It is, as I begin typing this, about 7pm. I've just gotten back from the local dealership (Audi/VW/Porsche, and perhaps Saab), which I arrived at around 5:15 to pick up my car.

It was left there Tuesday evening for a Wednesday service appointment, which had been scheduled last week, for work which was originally diagnosed (by their technician) in August, and subsequently not repaired during a visit in November. Items on the agenda:

* Front Suspension Bits
* Sunroof
* New Headlights
* Driver's Door Lock
* Passenger Door Lock
* Driver Seat (Power Control)

When I picked it up, the sunroof had been closed (the story behind that is another tirade) and the headlights had been replaced. Three days, and they fixed the HEADLIGHTS?

Fine, fine, order the parts you need for the suspension and the door lock (ummm, why didn't you have at least this part on hand? I told you it snapped off in my hand when I called last week, folks, any reason you didn't order it and talk to the warranty yahoos before yesterday, the -second- day you had the car?)

So, at least they (again) know what suspension bits to get, but, goddamn, this is the third such visit I've had. Two other visits have occurred where no repair work whatsoever was done (that would be the sunroof story. . . )

Now, I may be a displaced Yankee, but I'm finding it a little hard to accept this level of "service" down here in N'awlins. *sigh*

At least the head service dude was nice enough to warn me against getting a Jetta (my first choice, if I trade my A4 in), since they seem injury-prone, and spoke well of the GTI (one of my other short-list candidates). I want at least six cylinders and a stick shift, dammit. Four is just being emasculated, even with a turbo (see also: Subaru WRX, though that'd be a fun toy).

you know what frosts my nuts about the whole thing? this is the same place that took almost 2 months to close my fucking sunroof, which included a seven-page letter from me to the CEO of Audi USA complaining about how incompetent these people were. you'd think that they'd see me coming and at least make an effort to not fuck things up abysmally -again.-

i'm on a first-name basis with both service reps and the service manager, fer chrissakes. for a place that supposedly handles "premium" automobiles (and i don't know how else to classify porsche, though some may dicker about audi), this is just ridiculous.
