just because it seemed like we'd actually have something done in a straightforward manner, it turns out that the government has a whole bevy of undocumented budget items that need to be broken out before the project can be submitted.

"let's let the new guy (me) accidentally stumble upon this, since we've been through this before and think it's going too smoothly, especially with a hard deadline 45 hours from now, and then freak out completely."

how joyful. i'm having company for the next 8 or 9 days, too, so i'm going to be relatively non-participational.
