Hideous Pun

Unbeknownst to many, Pope Benedict celebrated his first anniversary in office by taking a private, scenic air tour of the Appalachains, but his plane was caught in the storms and crashed. Though he was not harmed, the captain suffered a broken leg and went into shock.

Being relatively hale and hearty, the former Cardinal Ratzinger splinted his leg and began dragging and carrying him to saftey, and, fortunately, came upon a cabin where a couple of locals took them in, and the man of the house took off towards the nearest town to get help (being so far off the beaten path, they didn't have a telephone, and forget about wireless service). The lady made them as comfortable as possible, even sharing a home-cooked meal while they made smalltalk, though Benedict was very circumspect, and said they were just unlucky travelers rather than incite a media circus in the home of the people who gave him and his companion aid.

Once help arrived, however, the media caught wind of the story and badgered Benedict as to why he hadn't been perfectly forthright with his rescuers.

So, to sum up:

He shuffled under the Pontiff's pilot, ate country-fried, lied, and was harried.
