Apparently, getting old decided to catch up with me all at once. A myriad of small physical defects are ganging up on me (suddenly highly sensitive-to-cold teeth, an inconveniently burned spot on my gumline, cuts under my fingernails). I suppose I don't have much room to bitch, [livejournal.com profile] aishlynn got bitten and kicked by a three month old (25lb) warthog and has some interesting bruises (it looks like I do a shitty job of beating her ;-) ).

Yep, definitely a Monday out there.

Going to the dentist on Wednesday anyway to have the rest of my old silver fillings replaced (should be fun but expensive, since insurance is primarily interested in covering preventative cleanings, not repair work; bah).

In other news, I'll be on the clock starting before 6am Tues & Thurs doing a hardware and software rollout.

Weekend was spent in glorious sloth (other than mowing the lawn and going to the gym).

Is *that* what it's like to get old? Hmmmmm...

Just wait ye youngun. Just wait. :-)

Your insurance might cover the replacement fillings depending on how the dentist bills it to them. Mine did. I wish I could recall how exactly they phrased it but you might inquire if that's possible when you are there as a quasi-subtle way of encouraging them to do it that way since I'm pretty sure they'll know. I'm not sure that last sentence was entirely coherent. More coffee, now! ;)

Unfortunately, no. I asked that the first time. :-)

Sensodyne... that stuff is magic. It enables me to continue my lifelong ice-chewing habit.

The sensitivity is a brand-new development in the last month (ever since the fillings I'd had since childhood were replaced with some modern amalgam); the fact that I burned the fuck out of my gum right in the same place is just adding injury to insult.

Ick. Once the gum damage heals up, I second the Sensodyne rec. My teeth suck flaming ass but I had the same issue, no sensitivity at all until my fillings got replaced.

It'll probably settle down on its own eventually, the nerves adjust or something and it mostly goes away. It took about two and a half months before I could bite into anything that wasn't room temp without wanting to scream obscenities.
