In a nice and appropriate gesture, we all wore black wrist bands (one of the guys on our team's son was killed in a car accident over the weekend).
Same opponent as last week (our only win when the other team has actually shown up; we scored 2 in the bottom of the 7th inning to win 21-20, and I came in off the bench to drive in the winning run).
First at-bat, sharp single up the middle. A decent catch in left-center after a long run. Second at-bat, the ump tells their catcher he might want to back away from the plate (I am in favor of this; I figure that clipping him upside the head will fuck up my swing, too). The catcher mumbles something about "Happy Gilmore" and I point out that my hockey jersey is at home, before drilling the next pitch off the fence.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a third AB, so I could tell them about my golf game.
Happy Gilmore, my ass. I get to call me that, you don't, bub.
