Overnight results were more to my expectations - ~280Kb/s

Darrien Singletary, WoW-playing installation technician, has completely impressed me, and the powers that be at Verizon will be getting a "He's the reason I'm a customer right now" letter.

Total downtime during the changeover: ~5 seconds (as long as it took me to jack the RJ-45 from my old router to the new one and get an IP address)

Working this morning, returning my Bright House cable & cablemodem equipment after that, vegging out in the afternoon, and then going to the 'Ning/Ducks game with theonebob this evening.

aishlynn is still wiped out from her cold (I'm trying not to catch it myself), and has expressed, in the strongest possible terms, her intention to not get out of her jammies today, save possibly for a long, hot shower.

I'm still curious to know how the changeover only took 5 seconds if you went from coax to fiber. Sounds more like you just got a better cablemodem?

Oh, the full install took nearly three hours, but the amount of time the computers were offline was trivial, because I didn't discontinue my old service until the new stuff was online.
