When you receive two emails, the latter of which is in ALL CAPS, the subject of which is "DO NOT [DO THIS THING]" with the almost-never-used "High Importance" flag - really, we're not kidding. We really don't want you to do that thing.

So knock it the fuck off. Stop doing the thing.

We will try very, very hard to be nice when you call after repeatedly try to do that thing, because you're not able to do the thing, but you will probably be made to feel very stupid for having ignored not one, but two messages telling you not to do that thing. And saying that you didn't read them doesn't really help your case. You are an adult, in a professional environment.

Read your fucking email.

I don't write this shit for my health. I throw weights at your head after-hours for my health.

*sigh*

I feel that pain. I regularly have to write documentation on how to implement system changes. I can write many times over to not do something. Sure enough, I will get at least one call, from a trained administrator no less, asking why when they did that thing that the system went all asplody.

Though, I do get some small comfort when they try to escalate the problem that I can point out that the failure was that they did not RTFM. But that's all I get. I still have to fix what they break. I get the feeling that sometimes, we administrators are here to atone for some horrible past crime we've committed against humanity.

The fact that I was getting real-time notifications every time someone Did The Thing, I could watch them and anticipate the call I knew was coming.

Adolf, good to see you. If we get Attilla over here, you, him, Ghengis and I can go golfing.

With kittens.

I'm not sure what I hate more...the dumb or the implied utter lack of respect shown for colleagues. Like you said, you don't right the shit for your health. Of course I have a habit of making mountains out of molehills, but when faced with analogous dumb here, the message I get is "I'm too important to pay attention to you." Really, now?

Feelin' stabbity today.

I recommend a return reciept. And maybe a cat-o'-nine-tails.

I don't want return receipts for items addressed to "ALL USERS" - the out-of-office auto-responses are plenty.

Nothing a couple of filters couldn't handle for you, but I do understand.

I was assuming these were not mass emails, though.

Oh how I wish I could use that...
