I keep forgetting that a lot of people get really into the costume thing for Dragon*Con. After my first time (2006), [livejournal.com profile] critus and [livejournal.com profile] netgoth and I kind of half-assedly batted around the idea of dressing up as characters from Mystery Men (Bowler, Blue Raja, and myself as either Mr. Furious or The Shoveler).

Then I remember that a leather trench-coat is probably not a smart outfit choice for Atlanta in summer.

So, I'll be dressed as "me" all weekend, which will look a lot like the not-all-that-weird stuff I wore at C14 (ie: breathable shirts and Utilikilts). Maybe I can claim to be an extra from a Gibson or Stephenson novel or something.

I'll probably shoot my mouth off at some of the World of Warcraft panels (to the near-certain chagrin of some folks), will swing by the beginning or end of Laurell K. Hamilton's something-or-other to give manly hugs to [livejournal.com profile] gothcop, and will generally merely be a free-floating social goober, seeing various friends I seldom encounter without keyboard mediation. Maybe some spur-of-the-moment panel or event will pique my interest, and I'll drop in.

For someone who reads as much SF as I do, I feel remarkably lukewarm about actually encountering the meat behind the words. Or being the words made meat myself, it seems.

[livejournal.com profile] petzilla is a huge Lost in Space fan, and when all of the actors were at D*C a few years back, all he could do was just walk by the table, he felt weird about meeting them Same thing will happen this year with the MST3K gang, I'm sure.

But hey, kilts and leafblowers = good fun!

You do realize that Wendi is part of the Kilt Blowing Committee this year. And that you are obligated to have the girls blow you. *evil grin*

I, for one, care not for what resides up yon kilt, but well... you know... hit me up if you want to hang out. Um... rather... if you want to chat in real space or heckle a band or two. I'm down.

you fall into that "keyboard people" bucket, bub. :-) if nothing else, there -have- to be places that have glasses full of that frothy amber stuff...

starts with the letter "B"?

i'll remember what it's called here, just give me a minute...

I was given the impression that my participation in that wasn't optional. ;-)

Wait, you're going to be at DC? Awesomeness, hopefully I will run into you at some point. I'm not going uber-costume-y myself.

Oh, you'll be super easy to pick out at D*C in a utilikilt. ;)

I'll be there as well, also dressed as myself, probably sitting in line for a Firefly panel or wandering around the hotel lobbies, loudly squeeing the names of costumes that excite me.

I'll probably be the only one in the orange camo, however.

We're having a Stonecutter Room/Floor Party somewhere in the Hyatt Radius at 7:30ish on Friday night. Consider this an invite. If you e-mail me your cell, I can text you with the room number when I know it.

Yes, it will be easy enough to find me...just look up whereever a LKH event/panel/whatever is.

Having free time, however, is another story. *rolls eyes*

Next year the wife and I plan on going as simple attendees, so I can actually DO SOMETHING con-related. :)

I'm beginning to suspect that you don't own pants.
