The only disappointing thing about this news is not having the debate on Friday. I was really looking forward to watching Obama tear him to shreds. Sadness.

b) Both candidates can bite my hairy ass. Which one has stepped forward and clearly and unambiguously denounced the bailout in its entirety (as proposed by the Bushies)? Sure, I don't expect McCain to, but Obama? C'mon! This was a glorious moment he missed. Has neither of them *anything* substantive to say about handing Paulson (or anyone?!) unprecedented, consolidated, unchecked power over markets?
c) For that matter, in a tanking market, why has the emphasis from both sides remained top down with only a few bones thrown to the bottom? Shareholders, stakeholders, mortgage holders...they are the "victims" in this game of chance and deception, not the companies, not the executives. Investors who got screwed? Make a criminal case (as the FBI appears to be trying) of it. Make massive class action cases of it. Otherwise, fuck 'em. There's no guaranteed ROI in this racket and the higher return is at the risk of a shirt or three. Not that I wanna see some of these assholes shirtless, mind you. Deceptive borrowers (borrowed insane amounts they couldn't possibly afford)? Fuck 'em. It's the risk of bad math skills + lying. When the smoke clears, they will only be slightly more fucked than they were before lying and/or failing basic math. People who legitimately got the shaft? This is why we have courts. Maybe, given the scope of the problem, dedicate some federal funds to lube the court system for a massive influx of lawsuits (and hopefully some high-profile criminal cases).
Whatever the "right" answer is, neither of these jackasses has proposed it, that's for damned sure.
