... there is funny there, because this post is about yardwork.
Spurred on by a couple of terribly wonderful enablers, neither of whom I will out here, plans are slowly staggering to their feet to do something with the garage, at least until it falls over or gets sledgehammered to pieces.
To that end, however, I need to empty it out so the space can be repurposed, and in order for that to happen, some other storage location for All That Shit (of which there is less, courtesy of some neighborhood thieves last summer) needed to be procured. So, spurring myself to unaccustomed action, I bought an 8'x8' metal shed at Home Despot yesterday, along with the high-wind tie-down spikes and a couple of padlocks.
I'll be clearing the space for it in the corner of the back yard once it gets to be a reasonable hour - the 2" sheets of styrofoam insulation I'd originally intended to use as sub-floor insulation need to be relocated and/or done away with, and there's a modestly large pile of palm fronds heaped up where I have in mind. The shed itself has a metal floor, but I'm debating whether or not I want to construct some sort of frame (probably from 2x4s) to get it off the ground to forestall excessive rust.
I figure six boards should do it, like so (outside box, two internal joists):
Maybe with plywood on top.
Depending how long that takes, I may or may not begin relocating stuff from the garage proper into the new shed (which will, of course, need a catchy name, and perhaps a festive coat of paint - suggestions for either or both are hereby solicited).
Had a fairly good time at the Castle last night - one of K's coworkers' beau is in charge of the video effects on the back patio, and another coworker had never been (they played dress-up here on Friday - yea, verily, it sucked to be me to have watch the ladies change into and out of several club-worthy outfits and offer opinions. K has several rather hot coworkers. Woe. ;-D ).
However, the 8pm cup of coffee & 5hr energy drink combo, while successful in maintaining positive wakefulness, has me feeling a little sketchy this morning (not a big complaint, mind you - I think making it an early night tonight is going to be de rigeur in order to be a relatively productive facsimile of a human tomorrow, even if my boss isfucking off at a conference most of the week.
