So, those seminars I've occasionaly kvetched about putting together are looming, and our partner organization sent out about 30,000 emails yesterday afternoon.

Issue #1 - they used _my_ address as the reply-to, rather than the one specifically set up for these seminars. This is relatively minor, unless it ends up becoming a spam-magnet.

Issue #2 - Tons of people are on vacation this week, so out of a hundred and fifty messages this morning [gads, I remember when CorpGoth was a 500 message-a-day entity, and I used to be bored? Keeerist!]. . . a hundred and fifteen were out-of-office autoresponders. Thirty more were either bad addresses, unsubscribe requests, or "your message was filtered as spam, piss off" notifications.

Issue #3 - I get to put in OT over the weekend because I need to get the CD-rom materials ready to be mass-produced in time to have them back for the first session. This wouldn't be a pain in the ass, except that I'm waiting on the boss to actually finish doing some of the documentation, and he keeps getting distracted [and there's a lot of documentation to go through - two hundred pages need to be annotated. And guess who gets to make sure it's all pretty and formatted correctly? Heh].

So much for uber-slacking and powergaming with Star Wars: Galaxies with MBI all weekend while K is at work. Heh. I like it so far, other than the soft economic climate and some heinous video slowdowns at one particular interaction point [the Bazaar terminals, if anyone else plays - I have no idea what the deal with that is]. If any of you play and want to meet up, I'm on Corellia on the Intrepid server, usually dicking around Doaba Guerfel. Apologies to those of you I've just exceeded the geek quota for. A more experienced friend has been trying to coerce/bribe me into joining him on the Bloodfin server, but it's always full when I look at it. So who knows.

"We're fine here, everything's fine. How are you?"

Have you MMORPG'd before? I used to be an Anarchy Onine player, and there are some aspects to this that are vastly, vastly superior - you can advance yourself without ever going into combat, for instance, and there's a lot of flexibility in character development and differentiation.

I've only run into one nasty glitch, thus far, and it seems that I'm the only one having it, so who knows.

Well don't I feel like I've had my head in the sand now. I knew SW-G was coming but had no idea it was here already. Been about a year since I've done any mmorging - I may have to check this one out (assuming Verent had nothing to do with it, that is).

I don't think they did - this one has "Sony Online Entertainment" slathered all over it.

Then again, Verent didn't do EQ, either. . . that was Verant.

. . . you know, like "spelling pedant." *snicker*
