And so, my career as an itinerant, occasional columnist for sites owned by AOL has (again) come to a quiet close, to nobody's real surprise. I haven't exactly been using it as anything but lunch money anyway, and there has been fuck-all to write about for most of this year from a PC gaming hardware perspective.

The fact that I'd write a finely-crafted 900 word article, just to see it bumped for a 200 word C&P from some press release didn't sit well. The gig itself was done for pocket money.

I'm good friends with my now-former boss' boss ([livejournal.com profile] faience), and her former boss (who isn't with AOL any longer), so I got a couple friends out of the deal, and some stuff to play with, albeit temporarily.

Now, to make Shrink Geek kick a massive amount of ass, as well as keep my own stuff perking along (folks have begun expressing interest in my services on a semi-professional basis). Not that I wasn't going to do that anyways, but, you know.

Hell, I even freshened up the original Digi-Disc page, only six months late for its 10th anniversary.
