Half a cup of coffee at 8pm in hopes of fueling a possible club excursion was, in retrospect, stupid. I was still uninterested in going, but I also couldn't sleep for shit once I got done hanging out with MBI and catching up. Once I did finally drift off, I dreamed that I got transferred to another department at work, and during a truth-telling exercise at a staff meeting, political journalist Rachel Maddow (see also: incredibly cute lesbian) told me I was "too honest," to which I replied, "Tough shit."

A Mythbusters Marathon is entirely too engaging to put my brain to sleep.

I should have remembered how soothing I find Cosmos and put that on. The combination of science, Sagan, and Vangelis is an elixir of exquisite soporificity for me, in the very best way.

As K said when we were looking at some of the newest Hubble images: "I bet he would have loved this."

Nothing is annoying in quite the same way as waking up at four in the morning, wondering if you're going to be late with a credit card payment (especially since you did no holiday shopping). The answer, this morning, is "no, I was three and a half weeks early, which is why I forgot I'd made it." I'll be going back to old-school paper statements for that card, thanks. Seeing the monthly stack of pending/paid items is more reassuring.

As for holiday socializing, it was fairly low-key. Talked to both sisters via IM, my folks via phone, and other friends via email, skype, or game chat. Went over to El Uno Roberto's place for afternoon dinner and some Rock Band. I will continue to keep my head down, as December tends to be my month to tend to want to engage in physical violence and makes "slash-and-burn" my primary mode of socialization.
