People have occasionally wondered why I rail against political hypocricy, especially that of the Repubican party (to be certain, there's no surfeit of it on the Democrats' side of the aisle, but it's less flamboyant and, to be blunt, rock fucking stupid).

Here, TPM gives you the nutshell case, with links aplenty.

I won't pretend that it's easy to reconcile my own political constellation - fiscally responsible with a social conscience - but to, repeatedly, to be adamant about one thing, then equally adamant about the other... it's all too 1984-ish on their part for me to abide.

Wow. That was incredibly well-researched. I didn't read every single line, but, man, someone was highly motivated there. Thanks for posting!

Funny thing is that I could recall a large number of the highlighted points. Part of me wants to share this with my coworkers. Then self-preservation kicks in and I just keep it in my bookmarks at home.

My house cleaning would include a firing squad. More motivation to get something done and not be stupid.

I never said I was in the closet about my libertarian leanings. I am a personal-responsibility advocate, with a big fucking stick in my other hand to keep advantage from being taken by those who imagine they are more deserving by dint of power, money, or influence.

The demon love-child of Ron Paul and Teddy Roosevelt.

RP's fanboys annoy me, because, like wingnuts of any stripe, they've chugged too much kool-aid. If they dialed it down a little, tempered it with some sanity and reality and recognition that PEOPLE SUCK, AND WILL BE GREEDY, SELF-SERVING PRICKS at the merest opportunity, and that needs to be quashed, then, I suppose you're not too far off-base.

I used to think that about myself, but I vastly differ from pretty much every Lib I know about the proper function of government. I'd rather have health care than the military-industrial stuff.
