Dear GOP: Fuck you, fuck your agenda, fuck your moralizing, fuck your misogyny. Because fuck you.

What follows are conversational excerpts from Twitter which spun off of sharing that particular bon mot. If you are staunchly pro-life, you're probablyy not going to want to read what I have to say. If you're a woman, and you continue to vote for anyone with an R after their name, I would encourage you to think long and hard about your political leanings, because it doesn't seem like you're voting in your best interest, even if you're extremely wealthy.

Respondent A: Wow. What is wrong with people in South Dakota? There are TONS of medical reasons for abortions....this is just wrong.

Me: I could say something crude about not needing them if you fuck livestock, but that's probably excessive. It's not people in SD, it's people with (R-____) after their names.

Respondent A: Yeah that would probably go a little overboard :P This just makes no sense! When did the GOP start hating women?

Me: After Lincoln died, I think.

Respondent A: Well at this point I think they're pissing off enough people to get peeps mad at GOP instead of Obama...not that it helps anything :-/

Me: No, if that were true, those fuckbaskets wouldn't have gotten elected. Too many God-blinded sheep who fear rather than think.

Respondent A: honestly I'm so sick of what the politicans have done in the last few years I don't know what the point of it is anymore. I truly believe the damn Senate should have an 8 year & out just like the president. Cuz they do TONS more damage than one president can. If McCain doesn't retire someone is gonna kill the old bastard. He's no longer helping anybody but himself.

Me: Nobody's killed Lieberman, and he's even more of a douchebag. If being an ass was a fatal condition, we wouldn't need term limits.

Respondent A: LOL well that's true. Ugh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but not much federal money is actually SPENT on abortions, right?

Me: None is. That's one of the things the GOP has won on. They don't want money *saved* elsewhere to concievably spent on 'em, either.

Respondent A: so WTF is the GOP's problem? There are so many other problems that could be addressed in this country & they're pushing pro-life above them.

Me: They want to legislate their morals without regard for personal freedom; don't get me started on their myriad hypocrisies.

Respondent B: Noticed that the bill is identified as hoghoused. I wonder how the original legislation read. http://legis.state.sd.us/sessions/2011/Hoghouse.aspx - may just be an SD thing.

Me: That's fucked up. The original title makes it sound like it's OK for a woman to kill the doctor performing her own abortion.

Respondent B: I suspect that situation would result in the woman being charged with premeditated murder. The entrapment aspect would probably weigh heavy against this hypothetical woman in trial.

I remember seeing some numbers of abortions which received some federal funding. The number was less than a thousand, possibly less than 500. In the entire US. Wish I could remember where I saw the numbers.

And a friend of mine's family is building a clinic (or some other health care facility) on their reservation in SD so that should any of the proposed anti-abortion legislation ever get really passed and not have an injunction against it there'll be a safe option in the state.

Respondent B, reporting in :)

My morethan140character take - my interpretation of the original legislation was that if a pregnant woman found herself in a situation of clear and present danger to her fetus due to being a victim of other criminal activity and ended up killing her attacker then she has an affirmative defense against charges that might be brought against her. If that was the spirit, I don't really have a problem with that. I generally support self-defense in the face of clear and present dangers to life or limb and if current legislation requires modification to provide for an affirmative defense for victims in situations like this then I'd support it.

Unfortunately it would appear that that was most emphatically not the true spirit of the original legislation. If I followed the history right, the person who originally authored the above paraphrased bill is also the dickhead who then 'hoghoused' it by striking all descriptive language and replacing it with wording that provides for what becomes government sanctioned murder of doctors who perform abortions in SD.

I agree with you on both points you make here, with an extra helping of opprobrium for the guy pushing this item.

I've decided I don't like letting them use the term "pro-life" since they have such disdain for the lives of actual existing people. I have seen other people refer to them as the forced birth movement.

Have you seen this (http://theweaselking.livejournal.com/3885801.html)?

The GOP: we're against government getting involved in our business but want to get involved in the business of punishing every dirty, filthy slut (aka woman) in the country.

And I agree we shouldn't let them use the term pro-life. Anti-choice is about as tactful as I can muster.

Every time I see them spout their hypocritical bullshit, I think of this. (http://mypage.direct.ca/w/writer/anti-tales.html)

The GOP: Keep the government away from our money and industry while we micro-manage your body, mind, and genitalia.

Dear GOP: FUCK YOU.
