Thank you, Richard K. Morgan, for redeeming yourself and the Takeshi Kovacs franchise from the sophomore slump that was Broken Angels.

Tight, entertaining, violent, and containing some nice twists (both predictable and otherwise); it's 9/10 the book that Altered Carbon set the bar to be. My only concern is that, after a couple of the encounters here, there is only one untapped sexual partner of any renown remaining (kind of).

The only other concern I have is that this book set up what looks like an inconveniently-close denouement to a larger story arc, which I hope doesn't portend the end of these novels, though it's entirely possible that Morgan will be able to explore the nascent conflict with the muddled morality that seems to pervade the series (and which does feature prominently here).
