digitaldiscipline: (Get Off My Lawn!)
(Crossposted from a bitchy thing I said on G+, after reposting something [livejournal.com profile] matociquala said there)

eBear: "Huh. Google+ may have been the social media straw that broke the camel's back. Suddenly I'm not interested in ANY of it anymore."

Me: "The last thing I want or need is still *more* fracturing and partitioning of my social media. I was perfectly content when it was just LJ. Social Media is becoming like deep fucking cable - too many channels, none of them with enough on to just set it and forget it, and I have an aversion to needing to leave an increasingly large number of tabs open just to accommodate everyone's preferred vehicle of expression."

Seriously, at this point, it (SM site creep) reached a critical mass of asinine.

For personal social stuff, I tend to follow one thing more than all the others, right now that is Facebook because that's where most friends are writing. Not that I ignore LJ, obviously, but I can catch up on it faster, so I ignore it for longer.

What I'm waiting to see is how Google+ handles business use of social media. Facebook is designed for personal use, and because one individual may only have one account, it gets complicated when one needs to maintain FB assets on behalf of an organization. And becomes a real pain if the person who set it up leaves the organization.

i'd imagine that G+ will eventually offer (if it doesn't now), complete integration with all the major services, to the point hwere it will be fluid where such things are coming from. we'll see.
