digitaldiscipline: (bitter)
Not, as far as I can tell, a post about work, unless my subconscious is being sneaky or some shit.

Two main set pieces in the dreams of last night, at least one of which apparently had me making audibly unhappy noises (as reported by [livejournal.com profile] cassandrasimplx, who heard them over skype).

1. Somewhere in Africa, in one of those places where traffic laws are something nobody's ever heard of, a group of several dozen young men on bicycles heading down a four-lane thoroughfare was run over by a pair of city buses... the first one plowed through before coming to a stop, the second stopped atop many of the victims, and the survivors and nearby civilians had to help push it off of them.

Pushing a bus over a four foot high pile of human bodies, some of which are still slightly alive? As awful as you think it is. Watching replays of it several times on cable news wasn't much better.

That bit of ghoulishness was followed up by going into a very large, upscale, and apparently American church, which was laid out as something like a Zen waterfall garden, with paths and ponds leading upward among small pools that drained towards one another, and occasionally accompanied by a very nice person who didn't hear a thing I was saying (stuff like "THERE ARE DEAD AND INJURED PEOPLE WHO NEED HELP OUTSIDE"), and, after ascending through probably a hundred yards or so of this, I found myself on a dais in front of a sand-floored enclosure (think "old Globe Theater or Mad Max compound, but neater, with lower walls and probably two hundred feet square") with hundreds of what I assume were parishoners, just standing around.

I had some kind of conversation with someone I assume was their pastor/leader/whatever, but the details of it elude me now, I just recall the feelings of it being frustratingly ineffectual.
