digitaldisciplineSo, there were particularly vigorous storms here yesterday afternoon (notable when the flag in front of my office blows *up* rather than sideways, and the rain is heavy enough to reduce visibility to < .1 mi), which happened to track on the crow-flying NW/SE diagonal I wish roads took between my home and office.
Which is a lot of words to say, "my power was out when I got home, and a lot of little (thumb-thick) branches were down in my street."
So, workout was scrubbed due to inability to a) see and b) stop sweating afterward, so I took a book onto my front porch until the twilight gave out, and had a chance to chat with the dude renting the house next door when he got home from running errands. He mentioned a tree being downed in the not-quite-an-alley that intersects our street, and, upon going down that this morning (still without power; I may be dark until nearly midnight if the power company is to be believed... of course, they said my power was going to be more than likely restored by 10pm last night, so... NaCl suitably deployed)... I encountered this:
It's not on a power line, it's just comprehensively blocking a seldom-used byway.
The benefits of storm prep: charging my cell phone from my UPS/laptop is essentially trivial, and there's a reason I keep a DC inverter power strip in the car.
