digitaldiscipline: (new back)
5.11 kilts finally arrived today. put them on for a quick pre-workout test wear, and... they fit differently than the utilikilts (less flowingly cut from the hips down, so my butt is a bit more, uh, prominently featured), but the fabric feels both light and tough.

should've been 9/1 then they silently slipped to 9/18...

they've tried twice now to screw up my order, i had to call them the first time, "where is my kilt"... then my credit info changed, so i called them to fix that. after some weeks, they kept calling my old numbers (and they confirmed they had my new numbers)... but the email worked, and eventually we got it clear that yes, i still want them ;)

hopefully they'll even fit :) though i probably should lose 10-15 more lbs (and seem to be on that track lately - unpacking and running around all the time seems to help)

so... soon, a month.x late is better than not at all

It was 3 business days from when I sent my cranky-gram before I heard anything back, which was kind of a bummer from a CS standpoint (and the tracking was also irksome, but that was due to fedex' routing direct from sacramento to orlando with no in-transit updates along the route)

it's a bit snug around the butt, but that, hopefully, will be curable with a bit more cardio (which is the one thing my lipid profile suggests has lagged; my HDL level is down, and my total cholesterol/hdl ratio has dropped from >4/1 to about 2.5/1)

You look great! I'm glad it finally arrived after all that drama.

Wow! You are looking huge!!

I'm looking forward to testing them out, considering how highly-regarded their other stuff has been from you and others (and, since they tucked a catalog in with my stuff, I have a first-stop place to look for replacing my near-to-retirement combat boots; do you or anyone in your extended circle have experience with their footwear? I saw that Mayhem had their socks in the pic he posted about his tactikilt...)

I'm not sure if huge is the look i'm going for (it weirds me out to be 190-ish, independent of my cantankerousness towards BMI; it just makes stuff like pullups and running irritatingly challenging when i feel like it shouldn't be), but i know what you mean... i just have so much accumulated experience being a small, skinny guy that i'm trying to get used to not being one.

bookmarked for great smugness! (though perhaps not FOR SCIENCE! *giggle*)

*leaves puddles of drool everywhere* Have I mentioned that you are one of the best perks for working the MMO track?

I even kept my shirt on this year!

I know :( You should be required to take it off at least once a day.

Lookin' super there, sir!

Love the new kilt; pockets like on a Utilikilt? *tempted*

two large external cargo pockets (slightly larger than utilikilts'), as well as two conventional pants-type pockets, as well as a small loop for a carabiner to clip to either side of the front flap.

I love 5.11 combat trousers. They're pretty much all I will buy, these days. Bit more pricey than other brands, but they basically *do not wear out ever*. I have three pairs that are my oldest trousers still in regular use, and the only reason I feel the need to buy another pair is to have something to wear to look smart (mine are all 5+ years old, and I do everything in them, including working out -- so, they're not worn out, but they don't look brand new either).

So looking forward to finding a supplier of their kilts in the UK.
