Brown up 1.5# turkey sausage (removed from casing and crumbled) and 2# ground beef or turkey in a pan/skillet/dutch oven of sufficient volume, and pour off the grease (in my case, I poured the grease into my other cast iron cookwear to continue seasoning them).

Then, in a slow cooker, put the following:
Browned meat
3 cans of diced tomatoes
2 cans of kidney/red beans (I used the low-sodium variety)
2 cans of black beans (I used the low-sodium variety)
1-1.5 cups of jalapeno slices (optional)
1T cumin powder
1T chili powder
1T black pepper
1.5T garlic powder

Cook on medium heat for 6-8 hours, stirring every 90-120 minutes, and try not to go mad from the delicious smells (I find that leaving the windows open, to drive the neighbors mad with them, helps).

Serves... a few, I guess. I'm probably not the best judge of portion size for normal people.
