This is boring, obvious advice, but I have the bloodwork to back it up.

Last time I went in, my GP said "hey, have you been taking a lot of NSAIDs?" "Yeah, mostly ibuprofen and occasionally naproxen sodium." "they're tough on your kidneys. knock it off."

so, thus advised, I bought a big fucking bottle of acetomenaphen and a likewise big fucking bottle of aspirin, and have subsequently been taking them in circulation to distribute the filtering and processing load (aspirin is handled by the stomach, iirc, and acetomenaphen by the liver)

today, things looked better, and i'll get the rest of my bloodwork results probably monday or tuesday.

still suspect my T levels are on the low/low normal side, but any more aggressive therapy options there are handing me over to the realm of specialists.

i did get a referral to a shoulder dude, since, as suspected, the skeletal aspect of my left shoulder looks just fine.

How often are we talking about when you say "a lot of NSAIDs"? I don't rotate my painkillers, but I don't take them that often either. I've never heard that this was necessary!

I was taking three advil two or three times a day. that is "too many" for frequent, prolonged use.

Ah, ok. I do that for two or three days per month, or once for a hangover.

Any NSAID is hard on something, some are more hard on everything. Even though acetomenaphen is supposedly harder on your liver, I found out that ibuprofen is also going to cause your liver numbers to get wonky.

The other nice thing about getting out of the rut of having a default choice in painkillers is that- if you're like me- it prompts you to actually remember that you can stack certain things. Last time I had an obnoxious fever, acetaminophen and ibuprofen together worked handily on it, but ibuprofen alone was sadly lacking.
