The local hurricane expert has been running down how Lili compares to other historic hurricanes. Right now, at 140mph, they're equating it to Hugo. There's still the possibility that it will make Category 5 before it hits.

All I want to do is stand on the waterfront, or on top of the highest building I can find, and shout at the wind. Loudest waterproof speakers I can find cranking my noise of choice, defiant of the storm.

C'mon, Mother Nature. Bring the noise.

Dude, you might ought to consider leaving? Hugo made it all the way to Asheville...7 *hours* inland by car. There are still seagulls living in the mountains from that hurricane...

I've already told you what I thought. If you two decide to book, pack up the animals, and come out. You're welcome here. Just take 10 east to just before where it merges w/ 95 North, get off on the Stockton Street exit, and call me. You have my number.

Good luck. I'll ask my friends to send no-hurricane mojo your way.

the storm has peaked, and is no longer strengthening.

the hurricane-force winds are going to miss new orleans entirely (to the west). i might see 40mph gusts and an inch or two of rain.
