[thanks be to [livejournal.com profile] ladysoleil for reminding me this is coming out today]

maybe i'll go get it at lunch and indulge in some SubWay.

besides, i need a -good- book in my car.

for the love of god, never, ever, ever read "Blade Runner 2," by W. K. Jeter. I can only assume that "W.K." stands for "worthless kipple." Well, no, because that would imply that Mr. Jeter had actually -read- Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? - his "book" is nothing more than a pathetic extension of some parts of the movie.

Am I reading right that Dark Tower V comes out today/??

And what's this about a blade runner sequel?

I have it clutched in my grimy paws as I type. Well, not really, because I cannot type and clutch at the same time, but it's in my possession.

The cover art sucks, but I'm 65 pages in so far, and it seems to be *really* damn good.

Although I must say, *ouch* at the $30 price tag (and this after the B&N discount). eep.

mine is in the car. i only got about ten pages done at lunch [mmmm. shrubway club].

but it'll stop me from tear-assing through Brust's "Jhereg" novels a fourth time, which is what i spent much of the weekend doing.

is it just me, or is his "argument" just an abridged summary? and wtf is with the retroactive "subtitles" he was on about? makes me wanna slap him offa whatever pretentiousness pony he's gotten on with wrapping thes up.

and, yes, the price was harsh, and the cover art is not thrilling.

No, not just you, but I found "the argument" helpful in that it's been a few years since I tried to wade through Wizard and Glass, as it's my least favorite, and nothing really happens in between things happening in it.

Maybe some pretentiousness got smacked into him when he kissed the bumper of that SUV? Or perhaps it's just the fleeting awareness that the gravy train, like Blaine, is rolling slowly to a halt?

Regardless, I'm liking the book so far. I can't tell you if I'm liking it $30 worth just yet.

see, i actually liked W&G a lot, so i re-read the whole series every couple of years. granted, the first time was the best, but i think it's got decent repeat value.

i dunno about the hip incident - i mean, "dreamcatcher"? that was down around that one that got turned into a made for tv movie with the porn star in it. . . tommyknockers, i think. . . in terms of simply being shite. bag of bones was lame. everything's eventual was much better, until you put it up against night shift and realize [to paraphrase the onion's treatment of sting], "hey, i used to be good, once."

yes, and 'NO, IT'S A SHITTY RIP OFF FOLLOW-ON, not a sequel."

You mean K.W. Jeter ;} ... although that doesn't work with your acronym. ;}

I have one and two alongside my desk; one is awaiting a re-read, and two is awaiting a first read. I'm askeered now though. heh. But I will still read because I adore the movie and first book, and playing Cyberpunk. Narfnarf.

okay. "kipple whiffler," then.

have you read "Androids/sheep," by Phillip K Dick? if not, do so. and don't read BR2. it's working very hard at ruining the original book and movie for me, it's that fucking bad.

I have not read the Dick book... yet. I will have to get myself a copy.

you won't ever look at the movie the same way again.

Perhaps I should also mention I have a slight dislike for The Directors Cut, and have two VHS copies of the previously released version. Unfortunately, neither of my copies is in the best of shape, and I don't think I can look forward to a DVD release of this version EVER. :( :(
