Okay, so I did K's taxes last night. . . nice chunk of change for her return

Her car needs a new head gasket, to the tune of $Tax_Return minus 100.

*sigh* Dammit.

Wish we were so lucky. We owe *sigh*
Not enough taxes taken out for him.

I'm never sure quite how to play it - if you get a refund, you've given the goverment an interest-free loan throughout the year, but you get a chunk of change. if you owe, you've gotten the loan, but don't get to repay it over time.

before i learned about some deductions that i'm kicking myself for not knowing earlier [namely, that travel can be classified as "job search, unreimbursed busines expense"], i was almost always within $100, one way or the other, based on my payroll deduction [i was lower middle class, and had a "one" as my deduction amount].

Carl needs to find out how his with-holdings are set up.

I would have gotten a whole $40 back... woohoo! LOL

Actually, we would have gotten a bunch back if I had actually done stuff for my business instead of focusing on the wedding... SWO pretty much fell by the wayside last year... so no business expences, no schedule C, no huge return (last year was almost $2K, because of SWO.)

claim your wedding as "hobby expenses"? ;-)

"whoops! i meant 'hubby!' hee hee."

:-p

Considering how many hours went into the beadwork... I was tempted to write off the whole thing as advertising expenses. LOL

(I got stopped more often during the reception so people could ohh and ahh over my collar than I was stopped for congratulations.)

Possibly not important for you, but the difference for me with simply deducting last year's STATE income taxes, and a pretty trivial business loss (less than $1000) means with itemizing those alone doubled state and federal refunds.

Would it be cheaper to buy a new car or newer used car?

I'm sorry :(

I don't think so. she still owes some on this one; we're currently trying to figure out if the original warranty [it's a 2001, with under 55k miles on it] is still applicable, since this seems like the kind of thing that ought to be covered by it.

Shit, the IRS still owes me $3,000+ from LAST year. Talk about unfair. They fucked up, and I'm paying huge amounts of interest on a credit card that would be a lot closer to paid off if I had that damn $3,000, and there's nothing I can do about it.

Sorry, though.

i remember seeing that. hopefully, they won't be fucksticks again this year. . . can you legitimately claim paul & ant as dependants because they were out of work so much last year? would that help?

Isn't that car under warranty? I mean... damn...she didn't buy it THAT long ago!

Got your message. FEH! I do NOT sound professional. Will be calling tonight re: Jedi Reunion Cruise. The Council in Jamaica. Lordy that sounds dangerous.

"Hi, this is [your name] at Dark Sands cruises. I can't take your call right now, yadda yadda yadda."

You're beginning to pick up the Noo Yawk accent, though. sorry.

We are moody and grumpy and we want it just so.

Sorry love... I have faith it will all work out.
