Y'all knew I was OOT all weekend. The boss knew [and I was dumb enough to give him my cel #].
So, after some very nice travel up to Buffalo and an afternoon spent doing this, that, and the other, I notice 2 missed items on my phone - one random call from the 770 area code [errrrr. . . . whoever the fuck you are, leave a message next time], and then a text message [i can get text messages?]. . . it's the boss' cell #.
"Rafe, I was working at your computer and it locked up. I killed [short list of utterly innocent processes], but it was still locked up, and now it won't reboot."
I should note that the _.same.fucking.thing._ happened the last time he sat at my desk, last august, and ended up requiring a complete teardown of the machine.
It's the main file server and print server for the office. We have a 70+ page report that has to be out the door tomorrow.
I -really- want to hear some good news from CO real friggin' soon.

(no subject)
however, i've got another problem now - the half-dozen or so drive letters that were assigned to the pair of other hard disks in the machine are still assigned to those drives. . . . twice. and i can't figure out how to delete the "ghost" drive letters because they don't show up in the meaningful part of the windows management console. grrr.
