Spurred by the conversation On Suki's LJ, I got to thinking.
I could probably live without any television whatsoever. I could probably do without music, too, but that would be harder. Books, on the other hand, are a necessity. Newspaper is a joke - I read the sunday comics, kim clips coupons, and neither of these are exactly dependent on either activity.
Of course, I couldn't go without my PC. heh.

Music. I could live without.
I NEED MY BOOKS.
All else is negotiable.

Because I don't have a house with a million rooms (or hell, even twenty), my living room represents the two poles of my entertainment interests. On one wall is the massive Wall O' Books; on the other side, by the fireplace, is the TV. Of course, the Wall O' Books is not big enough for all the books, and there are other cases that are full to bursting with books throughout the house.
Having said all that, I'm not particularly embarrassed by my television watching... I don't use my TV as a babysitter, and I know that people are more important than television.
Would I be grumpy if my cable went away? Hell yes. But if I were somehow unable to get any more books, and all my books went away, I'd be lost.
