Big, important things first:

- I close on the house tomorrow.
- [livejournal.com profile] aishlynn had an interview at Busch Gardens yesterday, and will be hearing something from them in what I suspect will be the fairly near future.

Smaller, more annoying things, then.

The whole house thing very nearly didn't happen without some serious help, because BANK ONE IS A BUNCH OF SHITFUCK RATSCREWING COCKBITERS. By their actions (and inactions), they very nearly rendered me unable to make the down payment tomorrow. . . and were then stupid enough to give me a big fucking stick with which to beat them over the head with, saying, basically, "We're a bunch of greedy, lying sacks of shit, and here's your proof." Nobody there, until today, was even helpful or polite, much less useful. Messages to branch managers were lost. Answers to questions were not given. Solutions to problems were not offered, or even considered. And my money was tied up most inconviently (I'm not yet absolutely certain there was any fiduciary impropriety involved, but it sure smells that way when it's your ass on the line).

Props to the new custodians of my ducats, Wachovia, for actually putting the "service" in "Customer Service."

Those of you who remember my go-round with Audi USA over the shenanigans that took place with the dealership who tried their damnedest to kill Froederick are familiar with what happens when I turn my napalm dispenser to "Corporate Motherfucker," and the big muckety-mucks at Bank One, Chase (who just purchased them), and perhaps the Better Business Bureau and Federal Reserve if I'm feeling particularly vindictive.

And, because I have friends at the Fed, and know how to make Google dance for me, three minutes' work turns up this resource (specifically, item #7 under "Determining Funds Availability," though I can see B1 trying to weasel out under the "Large Deposits" proviso (however, they didn't make the $5k available any sooner), and they already fucked up and admitted that the hold was because my two-year-old account was less than 30 days old.... in writing. I have 12 CFR 229 on my side, bitch. Let's dance.

On top of not being sure if I would be able to make my down payment, there was the small matter of the mortgage lender not being able to confirm that I actually had the job I've been going to for a couple of weeks (my first paycheck was for the holiday-shortened week of July 4th, which made me look like a non-full-time employee; my status as "seasonal/contractor" just compounded that), but verification was finally achieved.

Jesus Christ. At least the down payment is going to be slightly less than originally anticipated, so we might even be able to put in a washer, dryer, and sofa right away. Still weighing options for doing a back porch or patio, and, apparently, the garage isn't in as rough shape as originally thought, but I think I'd almost rather knock it down and start over than worry about rejoisting the fucking thing, because it's god-damned fugly.

Right now, the sledgehammer party is shaping up to happen the last weekend of August. Formal "we've finished painting stuff" housewarming is tentatively scheduled for sometime around Halloween.
