Summer Solstice Scams Galore!

First there was the spurious Best Buy credit card scam. Now it seems as if some unscrupulous fucks are trying to sucker PayPal users into giving up the goodies.

We are currently performing regular maintenance of our security measures. Your account has been randomly selected for this maintenance, and you will now be taken through a series of identity verification pages.

Protecting the security of your PayPal account is our primary concern, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

As with ANY e-mail you receive like this, always call your credit card company, or in this case PayPal, first. Never respond to anyone asking for this kind of info.

Offsetting that tongue evil is a lovely styrofoam box with "Omaha Steaks" as the return address that the UPS guy dropped off today.

In annoying news, one of the tires on my car has a vaguely ominous sidewall bulge.

Did I mention that this car has just ONE thousand miles on those tires?

The roads down here suck mightily, but, c'mon, Dunlop, you're killing me here. So, it's off to the service station this evening to see about getting it replaced under warranty [and if that doesn't happen, you'll all get to see me hit the roof.. . . . which reminds me, Audi has yet to get that long-awaited love note about why I'm no longer an A4 owner].
