I finally did something other than trade voice mails with the woman from Ingram Micro [in Buffalo] vis a vis my spamming them with my resume for one of their vendor tech support openings.

20 minutes, some tech questions [name three kinds of broadband, what's the difference between a switch and a hub, tell me one thing about cable/dsl/wireless], some really strange questions ("Do I smoke?" wtf?). . . I think I did reasonably well, but I'm far from my sharpest at 8:30am before coffee. So, we'll see.

I should really spend some time perusing the classified pages that [livejournal.com profile] critus and [livejournal.com profile] depotmode were good enough to share, so that [plug] Gothopia [/plug] is more likely, but still. . . it felt good to do something other than just bitch. Even just articulating to this woman why I'm looking for other opportunities [I have no interest in or passion for maritime regulatory minutae, independent of the pittance paycheck and lack of bennies] seemed to help slough off some of the caked-on psychological muck I've been so busy wallowing in lately.

A quick shout out to some people who've been helping my brain lately - thanks.

I have been cooling my heels all afternoon while the boss meets with a client. At four fucking thirty, he gives me big tasks to do. On a Friday. FFS.
