Relatively uneventful travel day yesterday, other than K leaving her cell phone at our apt, and the dozen children and assorted screaming meemies on the shorter flight. Dinner with K's clan was good, after which I headed over to MBI's place to help slap together a spare-parts PC.
Today has been practice for the next few weeks - my parents are getting ready to have a garage sale and art show, and my sister's back from grad school, so there's cleaning and furniture moving to be done. Fortunately, it's 65 and sunny out, with a nice breeze. Hauling a couple couches, a buffet, etc. . . yee hah. Or something. But WE'RE NOT SWEATING PROFUSELY. Heh.
Heading over to pick up K and head to the funeral home for the first day of viewings, etc, in a bit. Something similar tomorrow, I think. Funeral on Tuesday, fly back Wednesday PM.
As far as the last day at the job went, the boss is sorry to see me go, and realizes just how much ass I kicked on his behalf, and said as much. Beyond that, it was pretty low key, but I sure won't miss having to make conversation with the new guy, because he's dumb as a fucking stump, and is intolerably Beavis-like anytime a word with a vaguely naughty sound to it is uttered. Dude, you're thirty-seven, not thirteen; you really ought to know that going "huh huh, huh huh" not only makes you sound like a fucking moron when I'm trying to explain something to you and use a term like "crimp," but you look like a boob to the boss when you save and close the letter you're taking dictation on when he says "enclosure." The boss went so far as to call him on his dumbassitude - "You haven't had a lot of office experience, have you? 'Enclosure' means that I'm going to have you put another document into the envelope with this letter, not 'shut down Word.'"
