The first week of PS (post-Sil) work went pretty well. Richard, the guy we now report to, is getting groomed for management, and we're the low-impact techie types that were available for him to ease into the process by directing. It's a good fit professionally and personally (not to mention, he's the guy I golf with, so now it's ostensibly work-related, and the balloon has been floated that it's not altogether unlikely that 3pm "meetings" may be held off-site, with physical representations of goals and targets *grin*). Be that as it may, gearing up to do the work of a person and a half, rather than three fourths of a person, has an obvious impact on my ability to slack. ;-)

Friday night is a pleasantly drunken blur of shredding potatoes, "100% Kosher," good-naturing arguing with [livejournal.com profile] ross_winn and discussing tits with [livejournal.com profile] critus & [livejournal.com profile] netgoth, also known as Sil's Chanukkah Bash (a/k/a The Twelve Sins of Jewmas)

- Twelve Yiddish Curses
- Eleven Kosher Viewings
- What's "Ten" in Hebrew?
- Nine Kinds of Liquor
- Eight "Goth Is ______"'s
- Seven Musical Interludes
- Six Jewish In-Jokes
- Five Kinds of Cheeeeeeeeeese
- Four Sea Conch Surprises
- Three Cups of Shame
- Two Jedi Mind Fucks
- And Some Latkes from my Sweetieeeeee

Good friggin times, even if I woke up composing that on...

Saturday morning: Attempted not to exacerbate K's red-wine hangover (ph34r the liver of a Jedi, for I was ready to take on small portions of the world), and dove into "Tomorrow's Forecast," which I can solidly blame [livejournal.com profile] deviathan for both inciting and continuing to provide motivation (I want to finish it tonight, pore over it tomorrow, and get it in the mail before Wednesday's deadline for Polyphony 5), in and among assorted sessions of World of Warcraft with K.

Sunday was more of the same, with a few loads of laundry and an early-morning trip to Best Buy & the gym (including one lovely, if fleeting, moment when I stepped on the scale, and it read 174). My first brush with circuit training has my biceps and delts a little sore today, but after our first dilligent week of gym membership, I'm already noticing good things, which I hope to improve upon by GC2 and beyond.

In the "stuff [livejournal.com profile] angel_renewed will get a laugh out of" department, we have two items today:

- MBI put "125 gallon fish tank" on his xms list (I have not yet laughed at his ignorant folly)
- There is a Night Elf player character in WoW named "Sil" that K & I ran past last night. . . in a play zone called "Westfall." *muahahah*

[Also: mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa on the rest of the Props - they're in the queue. Really. I just need to get "Forecast" out by Wednesday]

Need a quick pointer for my fiction: For TV news, who makes the decision for what makes the broadcast as far as content: News Director? Producer? Someone else?

Context is a member of the on-air crew wants to have a (relatively minor) new feature on the show. Who would they ask (or petition) to make it happen?

"Tomorrow's Forecast" is done, all 5800-odd words of it.  To be printed at the office and mailed to Polyphony tomorrow.

I may rewrite my cover letter.  Again.

*twitch*

Anyone who wants copies, holler.
